IDS Alumni Seminar: with Ella Pad Founder Mamunur Rahman

All IDS students are welcome to join us for a workshop/seminar with IDS alum, Ella Pad Founder, and British Council Global Alumni Award Winner- Mamunur Rahman. Your host for the seminar is Shandana Mohmand .
Ella Pad is leading a social movement to improve women's menstrual health management through breaking a big social taboo. With a target of reaching over 3 million women and girls in next three years to ensure their menstrual health and wellbeing, who are suffering in period poverty. With his unique upscaling program, Mamunur is creating women entrepreneurs from the garment workers. Mamunur came at IDS in 2006 to do his master in Gender and Development, where his encounter with Robert Chambers changed his thought process and made him decide to initiate his Ella Pad project.
Mamunur was working in private sector development, gender mainstreaming, social enterprise development with leading development actors. As a core member of the SME group of SAARC Trade Promotion Network, he promoted regional responsible business. He worked as a team leader of UNFPA project in the apparel sector in Bangladesh. Mamunur also worked for EU Bangladesh to develop 'Bangladesh Gender Country Profile'. He headed Policy, Research, Cluster Development and Capacity Development departments of SME Foundation, an apex body of the Government of Bangladesh for promoting SMEs and also contributed to developing eco-friendly National Industry Policy 2016 and SME Policy.
